A new book to read.

Over the Easter holidays I purchased the much talked about 'Hunger Games' series by 'Suzanne Collins'. Due to the film being released in March I wanted to read them before I saw it. For me films never really do quite manage to live up to any expectations formed from books. I prefer books anyway as they allow you to create your own experience, your own character appearance with the description given to you; it's much more personal to you that way.

Anyway, the books! The first book I have to say was very good, I didn't know what to expect with it being classed as 'teen fiction'. Having said that, I was also a Twilight bandwagon jumper when they came out so I thought I would just give them a go. So yes, the first I enjoyed quite a lot however the second and I have to also include the third for me just seemed to loose that edge that the first book provided. By the time I came to mid-way through the third book I found myself just wishing the pages away just wanting to know what happens so that I can proceed to start my next series. There was nothing that kept me enticed, which is a shame as that section of the book was the ultimate outcome with the battle between the Capitol and the Rebels, the finale as it were.

So yes, first book was great however the second and third sadly lost momentum for me.

I have however a new book to read, yay! This is called 'Fifty Shades of Grey' by 'E L James’; I picked this up at work when it was book of the week at half price. I tend to do abit of research before I buy my books, I don't like my money to be wasted however the cover, blurb and of course the price caused me to make an impulsive buy!

I intend to do a review on this book in the future, so stay tuned!

Fingers crossed for great bed time reading.

  1. I've not read the Hunger Games books but I have heard from others that the second and third books weren't as good as the first. I did watch the movie but I didn't feel as connected with it because I came into it without having read the books or knowing much about the series/premise/characters in general. I was guilty of reading the synopsis of the second and third book off Wikipedia after I watched the first movie though :)

  2. I really try to refrain from looking on Wikipedia, I did that for Grey's Anatomy....what a mistake!

Overall the books were ok, I'm just glad I didn't pay full price for them.
