Legions of Lip Balms!

Legions of Lip Balms!I have some sort of addiction, one I'm hoping to curb however I cannot see it going all too well.

I've being suffering with extremely dry lips for roughly around two years now, there is nothing that I have found that has really helped them over a long period of time, believe me I have tried a lot! My most recent purchased is the Nuxe Rêve de Miel which is the one I’m currently putting all my faith in after reading positive reviews from the majority of people.

I've recently began a mission to try and use some of these up and whilst using them I have discovered that when I use the Nivea lip balms they actually make my lips worse so, I think I may be putting these to one side until my lips are much better. I'm not particularly keen on the Milk and Honey one however, I have some sort of little love affair with the Soft Rose version as I've re-purchased it a few times. The Soft Rose version was my first ever lip balm that I purchased when I was younger and I simply adored it. These vary in price to be honest depending on what they claim to do; I think most are under £2.

The Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub as seen above is helping me to get rid of any dead skin; however I do find that I have to watch how often I use this as it can be rather harsh if I use it too often. This costs £5.25 which is pricey for something you could essentially make at home, but hey, it’s rather unique isn’t in that cute little tub!

Once I have used the lip scrub I either use the Blistex Intensive Moisturiser (mainly because it is very nearly empty) or my new Nuxe Rêve de Mel which I got shortly after Christmas. So far I'm really liking it, I have to go as far to say that it is probably the best out of all of them that I have used in a long time so I'm hoping that over time it sorts out my problem. I ordered this from Feel Unique, paying £9.50 for it which for me I found to be rather pricey but if it works then fair game! Check your local M&S too as my local store is now stocking Nuxe in store rather than just online.

Worthy mentions go out to Burt's Bee's Lip Balms as I think they're rather nice and I do find that they keep my lips far more hydrated than the Nivea ones I have tried. These can be picked up in Boots and Holland and Barrett for £3.69, or of course from the Burt’s Bees website.

Another worthy mention would be that of the Korres Lip Butter which for me is my next favourite after the Nuxe lip balm as it gives a lovely tint to the lips however this one isn't as moisturising as I had expected, so in fact it is probably in joint second place with Burt's Bees. I picked up my Korres Lip Butter from Cute Cosmetics in the sale however they can be purchased from other sites such as Feel Unique; they cost £6 at full price.

Out of all of the lip balms above I have to say the one I really do not get on with is the Carmex Cherry Lip Balm. I'm sure it is a nice product but I cannot leave it on long enough to let it work, the taste for me is not very nice at all...I probably should have picked up the mint version. At £2.70 I know I will not be buying the cherry version again, it just isn’t my cup of tea.

Are there any new recommendations for something new for me to try?

  1. I dont even know how many lipbalms I have. I missplace them all the time so buy new ones, then find the old ones again! I dont think I have ever finished a lipbalm!

  2. I have the same problem (although not quite as bad as your addiction seems to be haha!) I'm always finding lip balms all around the house!
I still find that good ol' Vaseline does the trick for me. It was the first lip balm I ever knew seeing as it was always in stock in the bathroom cupboard. If my lips are really bad then at night I'll slather on the original version of Vaseline (blue tin) and hope that no one sees me with the rather unattractive lip-balm-all-over-your-face-look. Then in the day I usually go for the Vaseline Rosy Lips (pink tin) because I like the little bit of extra colour or the Vaseline Cocoa Butter (brown tin) purely for the smell!

    1. I the red vaseline, I have it in the two versions :) everything I use gives immediate relief, I'm hoping to find something that works for a longer period of time.

I haven't tried the Cocoa Butter version... :P xx

  3. Try lanolips 101 ointment. It's on the pricey side but it works for me and I have very dry lips. You can get it at larger boots stores or order online at Victoria health. X

  5. Vaseline over top of a moisturizing lip balm at night. I usually apply either eos lipbalm, or a burts bees chapstick than put vaseline over it. I know you have the rose vaseline up there, but I mean real vaseline, not the lip balm vaseline. I found real vaseline vs. the lip vaseline works better. I'm working on a blog post right now about it. I swear if you bought a tub of vaseline and used that instead of the vaseline for lips you'd have better improvements. Also rubbing it into your lashes, and eye area before bed is great for your lashes and skin. Made my lashes healthier so they got thicker and longer. I only use real vaseline around my eye area. I hope this helps you. I feel your pain about dry lips.

    PS found you on twitter.

    1. Oh yes I know, the stuff in that creamy tub. I might give that a go as it is rather cheap. I haven't actually used the vaseline lip balms for a little while now, I might get them back out again. Thank you for the advice!

Thank you for visiting my blog after finding me over on Twitter :)

  8. This looks like my lipbalm collection haha! Love the Lush scrub, it tastea amazing :D
I really like Balance Me's Lip Salve, it's a bit pricey but it works so well. My lips have been so much better since I stopped using Vaseline, it dries them out like hell because of the petroleum.

ooo now, I did have that which I got from a She Said Beauty box, however, the taste was very strong for me. I presume you're referring to the 'Rose' one? I gave it my mom in the end haha.

ooo really, I may look into the petroleum ingredient. Thank you :) xx

  9. I'm so glad I'm not the only one with that many lipbalms! I'm making it a mission this year to try and get through all of them (no chance). Can't say I have any more recommendations for you! I kept thinking 'ooh I know!' but then I realised you already had it. Carmex is a definite favourite though :)

  10. I love the Jason Aloe &Beeswax balm. You can buy it here: http://www.jasonnaturalcare.co.uk/lips-bee-healthier-p214.aspx

I received it in my glossybox and was surprised by how moisturising it is, I think the combination of Aloe and Beeswax is a winning mixture!

I did a kinda review of one if you get a chance to look through my blog but I'd def try it out for yourself.

    1. oo Balmi, yes I have seen those. To be honest the only reason I haven't picked one up is because of how many others I have. I might just do it, what difference will one more make? :P

      Thank you Roxy xx

    1. To be honest, they look nice and taste nice but I haven't found that mine is doing much for me. However, my lips are quite bad at times as well as me having come to the conclusion that nivea as a brand really does nothing for me. Skin care made me break out and lip care makes them worse for me :/

Thanks for stopping by! :) xx
