The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask

I've being meaning to review this product for a while now, I've had the pictures stored for a number of months ready to upload; better late than never though right.

Clay masks are products which I tend to look forward to most as I really enjoy the fresh and clean feeling after using them. The one product I have used for a while now is The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask which I picked up around this time last year. It is all gone now sadly but I thought I would share my thoughts on it with you today.

For a price of £12 you receive 100ml which is quite a nice amount as I found that I didn't need a huge amount of this to cover my oily areas such as my t-zone. This mask is aimed at those with combination to oily skin which is my current skin type; therefore it is ideal for tackling those pesky blackhead areas which annoy me to no end.

Unlike previous clay masks I have used such as the Boots Botanics Shine Away Iconic Clay Mask and the Good Things Five Minute Facial Mask I found this to be much thicker in consistency, therefore it did take a little longer to dry once applied. The smell of the product was quite nice with it being quite refreshing yet earthy at the same time if that makes any sense, it wasn't overpowering in the slightest though so I found this to be a pleasure to use.

I found that once I had left this on for roughly ten minutes I could wash it off with a damp flannel whereby my skin was left really soft and clean, but more importantly I could see that the problem areas had definitely been targeted as those areas were visibly clearer and improved. After using the mask ensure that a moisturiser is used as the areas can be left feeling a little dry afterwards which is often to be expected having used a mask such as this.

Overall I really did enjoy using this clay mask, I think for the price it does a really nice job and it would last quite a while if using it just once or twice a week as using it more than that could be quite drying on your skin.

I'm glad I did this review today as it has come just in time for The Body Shop sale where they are currently offering 40% off sale items and full priced items too so if you're interested in this then it could be worthwhile checking the online site.

  6. Sounds like a really nice mask! I haven't tried much from The Body Shop except their Vitamin E cream which I really liked :) They rarely go on sale in Australia though except for newly discontinued stock :(

  11. I love using clay masks especially as I have oily skin. I use the REN mask which is a lot more expensive but I would love to try this as it is definitely a cheaper alternative x

  14. Would be interesting to see whether this works well long term! I have combination skin too - it seems oily, yet dry all at the same time! xx

    1. Oily, combination, dehydrated....I get it all, it can be really frustrating as I have to target different areas. I only use clay masks once, maybe twice a week if I feel I need them as I do find that they can be drying on my skin. I find that I can suffer with stubborn blackheads (gross!) which nothing really seems to work on, luckily I don't have many of those xx
