Bookshelf #1

Bookshelf Bookshelf

Whilst I was at university my reading habits dropped dramatically, I went from reading what I wanted to read where magical beings in ancient worlds roamed to sinister murders on the streets of Whitechapel to reading texts on river management, ecology and soil. Let's just say my enthusiasm died just a little therefore after finishing university last June I found myself with a huge stack of books that I had purchased over the last three years that had gone unread; time to get busy!

Having had an e-reader last year I must admit I have being reading a few e-books on the sly ever since yet there is no denying that you just cannot beat a physical book in your hand. This year I'm planning on making my way through many of the above titles and more, I want to slip back into the book worm that I once was as that was a true escapism for me that I used to crave and most of all love.

Currently I'm reading Game of Thrones: A Clash of Kings which is the second book in the series. I would be so interested to hear what you are reading at the moment and if you have any recommendations then please do leave them below.

  1. Oh fellow book reader :) love it. I'm not too much of an e-book reader but I do read a lot of biographies and true crime. I'm oddly enough reading 4 books at once at the moment =/

    1. I have dabbles with my e-reader, I've read a few books on there all in one go and then I go back to paperbacks for ages. Unfortuantely I've pretty much ran out of room for any more books on my bookshelf so these days I tend to buy books for my e-reader unless it's something special such as Game of Thrones....I then always need the hard copy in my hands :)

Wow 4 books, you machine! I can handle only one at a time xx

  2. i know, it's so difficult to even find the time to read books for leisure when you're constantly being bombarded with textbook chapters and articles! grr...

i've been slowly, chapter by chapter, trying to sneak in a book called 'Submarine' by Joe Dunthorne, and it is hilarious!

  5. The Game of Thrones books are sooo good! I love them. Shadow of Night is really good too, although it ends on a huge cliff-hanger and I've been waiting two years for the next one! Luckily it comes out this year so you won't have long to wait :)

    1. Oh really? I have read the first one of the series, but have yet to start the second one. It's good to know that the third is out soon as by the time I have read the second it should be out by then. Thanks Nicola :) x

  9. I never thought I'd love my Kindle like I do - it's not the same as a real book but I like that you can get them cheaper sometimes :) I've started reading again so much more now that I've finished uni! xx

  11. I have a kindle now, so I don't buy as many hard cover books. The complete Jane Austen works would be nice though, as she's one of my favorite authors.

  12. Yay a fellow book lover!
I will never buy an e-reader/kindle, it's all about a physical book, I love collecting them.
I'm currently reading Tess Gerritsen, she's one of my favourite authors ever, such great crime thrillers. My bf is reading Game of Thrones at the moment, heard they are hard to read, the tv series is amazing!xx

    1. I was like that Claudia until I received one as a leaving present from work, I was unsure but stuck with it and I have to say my mind was changed on them. However you're right in that they cannot replace a physical book :) The TV series is incredible, the books are great too! xx
