A Trip To Town

On Friday I went off to Birmingham with my mum and aunt for a little day out. We had a nice time spending the day together which consisted of a few beauty counters, lots of time in Waterstones as well as a cheeky Nando's.

At the moment I'm having to be quite strict with money because I'm hoping to get my braces rather soon. This does require quite a lot of commitment as they're super expensive however I did treat myself to just a couple of things as it's horrible working all month and having so little to show for it in terms of a treat for yourself. Whilst in Waterstones I picked up the new Patrick Ness novel 'More Than This' which was on offer for half price at the time. I've heard about this author before and I'm aware that his target audience has been young adults in the past however I'm more than willing to give this a try after hearing how good his previous titles have been.

If you haven't been to Waterstones in a long time I do recommend checking it out, it's such a beautiful book shop in which I know I could easily loose myself for a good number of hours. There are now so many things inside ranging from e-readers, cards and a beautiful stationary section. I did in fact go back to that later on in the day to pick up the Rifle Paper Co Botanical Journal. I had previously looked at these online but I wanted to see it for myself before I purchased it. There are a couple of other colours all placed along the same botanical theme which are equally as beautiful as the one I chose above so I do see myself going back perhaps next pay day to pick up another.

Whilst in Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe I also treated myself to my last purchase of the day which was this unbelievably bright bar of mint choc chip chocolate. I have to say it looks maybe a bit uninviting but I think that is what attracted me to it in the first place, not forgetting my love for mint flavoured chocolate. Sadly this wasn't as nice as I had hoped so I think I'll stick to Cadbury's. There are all sorts of things in there though so if you do have an sweet tooth or fancy a little treat at some point it's worth checking out even if it is just for a bit of nostalgia.

Before I head off I'd just like to say a big thank you for all the feedback I had on my previous outfit post. I felt a bit like fish out of water posting one but it was nice to publish that type of content in order for a little change over here.

I definitely know what you mean about working hard and barely been able to afford a little treat - it's so disheartening sometimes :(

  5. Is it Invisalign you're after? I said that as soon as I got a proper job I would get Invisalign (or look into whether it would work for me at the very least), but I just haven't, I can't keep thinking about just how much money it is and how that money might be better saved for a house deposit.

  6. I love, love, love Mr Simms old sweet shope. It's so old fashioned and cute, exactly like they used to be (I think, I wasn't around then haha)- much better than just picking up a packet of sweets from Tesco! Xx

  16. I loved seeing this little haul, Amy! Rifle Paper Co. just makes the loveliest stationary, don't they? This San Francisco chocolate company called Tcho makes a bar called Galactic Gelato and it is a "dark chocolate bar with mint astronaut ice cream in it." It's so good!

  18. I really miss having a Waterstones in Luton. I don't even think we've got a book shop anymore *thinks* how exciting for the upcoming possible braces - I had them for just under 2 years and didn't wear the retainer *rolls eyes* went to get an opinion for invisalign he told me it's only for minor problems& short term and that I'd need 'train tracks' for 8 months (another story lol)

Be nice to see a book review when your finished with that book - such a bargain when things are on offer. The journal is very cute xo

    1. I really want invisalign, the price scares me to death though. I will do it, I just don't know when at the moment. I'm looking forward to reading the book, hopefully it will be good so I can write a nice positive review :) xx
