Recent Purchases #2

Recent Purchases

At the very beginning of June I attended my first ever blogger meet up in Birmingham which was a fantastic experience that put to bed a lot of nerves and worries that I had in regards to meeting a bunch of brand new faces. Whilst I had a great day eating more than I care to admit at a Chinese buffet as well as a brilliant tour of LUSH we also had a good hour browsing the Selfridge's beauty haul which, if you haven't been already is pretty incredible since it had a re-vamp last year.

Whilst I was out and about with the girls of course a little damage was done however I had been looking forward to the event for such a long time and had ensured that I had put a few pennies aside so I could buy a few things whilst I was there. I had initially only gone with two things firmly set in my mind that I knew I wanted to purchase on the day with those being the MAC 217 and the Big Sea Salt Shampoo from LUSH.

Whilst I was in LUSH I also decided to buy the Tea Tree Water which I had heard so much about, I knew that it was highly recommended for my skin type so thought it would be worth a try. I have since mentioned it in my post about tackling blemish prone skin as I'm finding it to be working so well for me at the moment. Across the road from LUSH my favourite store Waterstones harbours an array of books of which if I'd had the time I would have stayed in there for hours. Whilst I was in there I picked up another Rifle Paper & Co Journal because I quite simply think they are beautiful, they also seem quite hard to come by I have found after trying to find them online so that is where I go to pick them up.

The main damage was done in Selfridge's whereby I spent far too much at the Kiehl's counter; I'm hoping that in time to come my skin will thank me for this. The items I chose were both items that I have read numerous reviews on and researched over time and overall they sounded pretty darn good! The Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado was an eye cream that I had decided on a good month or two back to invest in next however I just happened to invest in it sooner than I had originally anticipated. The same also applies to the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate which is a serum for use at night time which appealed to me far more than the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair.

I also picked up a Starbucks card however I have yet to get around to registering it.

Have you tried any of the above products? If so I would be keen to hear your thoughts on them and if indeed you have found better ones.

I really liked the Big shampoo when I
tried it - though it felt so strange to start with haha. Really jealous of
your Kiehl's purchases! I want them for myself!

  5. Did you take advantage of the 20% discount at Kiehl's? Having use the midnight recovery serum I can testify that it is an amazing product.

  6. Both of the Kiehl's products are amazing. Avocado eye cream I used in the evenings only as I found it a bit heavy for under my makeup, and MRC I use on it's own or bellow my night cream. I hope you'll like them x

  9. I recently also picked up the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate - Amy, it is the best thing EVER!
I've been using it the past few days and I haven't even needed to use foundation. My skin is glowing, but not oily in the slightest (whereas it usually is very oily!) It's so hydrating, and a real miracle worker! I hope it works as well for you!
(I've also just picked up that Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner on your recommendation.. I'll keep you updated with that!)

Gorgeous notebook by the way, I found a shop in my town which stocks RPC products so I've gone a little crazy with them recently.

It's great to hear you enjoyed your meet up, I'd absolutely love to go to one but I don't think there are many bloggers in my local area, which is a real shame! Maybe I'll have to travel around a bit! ;)

    Lovely post as always! :)

  15. Ooh the MAC 217 I'm not jealous at all (I'm so jealous) I need this me thinks, I currently use the Real Techniques eyeshadow brush and it's just not fluffy enough for blending :). I've had the Avocado eye cream on my wish list for awhile I can't wait to hear your thoughts :) xx

  20. Yes it feels rather weird I have to agree! The eye cream is what I'm using as I'm holding off on the serum until I have finished something up, the eye cream is so nice xx

  21. It really is Gemma and it is so cheap too! x

  22. I didn't no, I think that offer came on after I purchased these which was a shame. I'm so glad you rate it as I have only used it once so far so I haven't had chance to see it work its magic x

  23. I think I would find it heavy for the morning time too however I haven't tried that yes as I have only so far being using it at night time, thanks Liv x

  24. The journals are beautiful Elise, if you like stationary and bits and bobs like that you will really like this range xx

  25. The shampoo is really nice, I can't decide if it gives me more volume though x

  26. I can't wait to start using it properly Amy, I'm holding off until I finish off my Hydraluron which is nearly all gone. It's great to hear that you are having such good results with it, I sure hope I enjoy it as much as you! :)

I've my fingers crossed that you like the toner (so expensive) but hopefully you will like it, I find it quite gentle which is perhaps why it took me a little while to see results. Oh that's lucky to find them by you, I have found nowhere other than Amazon and Waterstones so far.

The meet up was great and if you get the chance to go to one I would recommend it for sure. Sometimes I think a little travelling will be required but it will be worth it :)

    Thanks Amy! xx

  27. I hardly ever go to Starbucks but I recently started using it a little more so thought it would be worth picking one up. The LUSH toner is great Olivia and super cheap too really for how much you get, it's well worth trying out x

  28. Yes it smells so good doesn't it, super fresh which I adore! x

  30. I had too which is why I eventually caved, although I saw a smaller eye cream today in store which if at the time I had seen that I would have picked up the smaller size to try before buying the one I did, doh! xx

  31. It took me ages to buy it Rinica, I mean it is £18 for a darn brush but I have to say I can see a difference, I'm yet to decide if it was worth £18 though haha! I love the eye cream I seriously do, I feel it's a bit too soon to decide if it is making a massive difference however it feels lovely on, it feels as though it is doing something x

    ReplyDelete
  32. Me too Ana, I'm looking forward to trying it soon once I have used up some other things x

    ReplyDelete
  33. There are a few things from the brand I wouldn't mind trying however it is quite expensive so I won't be trying anything else soon I don't think x

    ReplyDelete
  34. The MAC 217 is fantastic! I absolutely love it and it's probably my favourite eye brush. I have been meaning to try the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. When use up some of my current products, I'll definitely have to give it a go. xx

  42. I'll be interested to see what you think of BIG, as I've been pondering whether or not to try this for ages.

I much prefer the Kiehl's serum to the Estee Lauder one, it's so lovely to use.

  43. I really do like the salt shampoo Vanessa however I don't think it gives me any more volume to be honest. What I do like about it is how clean it makes my hair feel, it also feels really nice and soft afterwards xx

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks Amy :) I'm always looking for volume though! But I'll give it a whirl anyway, I do love Lush xx
