Tackling Blemish Prone Skin

Tackling Blemish Prone Skin
Over the last week or two I had noticed that my skin had being looking a little worse for ware, worse than I would care to admit. I'm not entirely sure what had caused the congested look I was so unceremoniously sporting however I'm going to put it down to not drinking enough water, not enough sleep and the warm weather we're experiencing at the moment. In order to tackle the situation I have being using some of my fail safe products that I knew would help me to get my skin back under control.

Being a blogger I often get chance to try new skincare which is makes me extremely lucky however whilst doing this I often fall out of a routine which may at the time be suiting my skin. For the moment I'm delving back into my old skincare routine because it was doing just the job for my combination to oily skin type; there are however two new products which I'm using which have being working really well for me so far so they will be sticking around for the foreseeable future.

Whenever I can see those ugly blackheads my clay mask comes out. I hate discussing black heads as just the word makes me cringe however they are a fact of life which one day I hope to diminish but for now I will have to keep fighting the fight. The Superfacialist  Tea Flower Deep Clean Pore Purifying Clay Mask by Una Brennan has been a fail-safe product for me now for the best part of a year. This is a brilliant mask that really helps to clean out those pores leaving a much cleaner complexion; it's also quite budget friendly as the whole range is on offer quite frequently in Boots. Sticking with the clay theme I also find myself using the REN ClearCalm3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser* which is one of my all-time favourite cleansers that works really well on my skin type leaving it soft and clean without any tight feelings that can so often be associated with clay based products.

Chemical based toners have been really popular over the last six months or so therefore I finally decided to join that band wagon to see what they were all about. I have to say that since I have being using the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner that I have seen pretty nice results in my overall complexion, it's a slow process and in my opinion it takes a few weeks of using it to really see any results however I do think that it is worth it.

My most recent skincare addition is the LUSH Tea Tree Water which I like to use on my skin after I have used a chemical based toner. Please note that I don't use the Clarins toner that often (roughly twice a week) because in all honesty I'm still a little wary of any damage being caused to my skin over long term use. The LUSH toner is a product that I have read about numerous times so when I was last in LUSH I finally decided to pick it up. Whilst I haven't being using this for a long period of time I have to say first impressions are quite good, since I put this back into action over the last few days I've noticed that my skin has started to calm down considerably.

Once I have cleansed and toned I then like to use the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + on problematic areas. This can be ever so slightly drying therefore I only focus on the areas that need attention such as my jawline and forehead. To me this is such a fantastic product and is one that I will be re-purchasing as soon as it comes on offer again because it really helps to calm those down those pesky blemishes. In order to pop a bit of moisture back into my skin I have being using the BeeGood  Honey and Wild Flax Daily Moisturiser* which is primarily targeted at normal to combination skin; whilst my skin type isn't exactly normal it is most certainly combination. So far I'm really enjoying this moisturiser as it smells beautiful and makes my skin feel quite lovely; it's also a pretty good base for make up!

So there we have it, the products that I turn to in a skin crisis. What do you turn to?

  31. I don't use a lot of products when I do start suffering with blemishes, as I'm never quite sure if I'm doing more harm than good and just irritating my skin, but I've been using Effaclar Duo + and Lush's Tea Tree toner together and I've discovered they work really well at keeping blemishes away in the first place x

  32. They both work really well don't they! I don't use all of these each day, that would be too much for me too. The Clarins toner I use roughly twice a week and the clay mask maybe twice depending on how congested my skin is looking x
