Isle of Wight Natural Candle Company

IWNC.CO Candle

I often find that being a beauty blogger leads to a full grown conclusion that we all love candles. Now I have honestly always liked candles however have found it in the past and even now to be very hard to justify spending a lot of money on them, to me they've always seemed like such a luxurious treat. When I see so many luxury brands I often feel a little disengaged as I know deep down it is pretty unlikely I'll be spending £30 plus on one single candle.

As of yet I haven't had much experience with candles and the various brands that are available, I am for some want of a better word a candle noob. Therefore when I was kindly offered to try one of the Isle of Wight Natural Candles I pretty much jumped for joy, I envisioned a nice relaxing evening all wrapped up with a nice warm spicy scented candle burning away whilst my cat sat on my lap. Well everything but the latter happened as my cat was much happier curled up in his blanket on the sofa.

Handmade on the Isle of Wight it feels really nice to support a UK brand whereby all of these candles are made in their garden work shop. I also like the fact that the candles come with a little leaflet which informs you on how to use and care for your candle properly, allowing you to achieve the best burn possible all whilst keeping the amount of carbons to a minimum. The candles are made from natural soy wax which when burnt is much cleaner compared to paraffin wax as it does not contain petrochemicals; plus the remaining pulp from the soy beans is used to go towards animal feed which is a fantastic method ensuring that the ingredients do not go to waste.

The candle that I have had the pleasure of using is the Isle of Wight Natural Candle in Orange Nutmeg and Clove* which is retailing at £13.50 for the larger size. Generally speaking I'm not a huge fan of spicy scents, mainly because so many thing seem to have cinnamon pumped into them which is a scent I cannot warm to at all. It made me so happy to not see the word cinnamon that I was already feeling pretty happy about this from the offset.

The scent of this candle really is beautiful and what makes it even more special is that I can actually smell it from sitting on the opposite side of the room. Whilst I can definitely smell this it isn't overpowering at all as it adds just a nice warmth to the room due to the blend of soft spices, it really has been the first candle to impress me and to make me want to spend my money on in the future. I have to be quite careful with the candles I use in my house as they often give my mum headaches however even she has commented on how nice this is; thumbs up from mum!

Overall I have been really impressed with this so far and have found myself contemplating ordering a couple to try in the New Year; both Romance and Fresh Fig take my fancy.

  2. I love candles but hate spending so much on something I am just going to burn. This is great value for such a large candle.

  3. For natural candles and their size, they're actually really reasonably priced! I've been eyeing Yankee and Jo Malone for what seems like forever but can never quite justify their price in my head. I think I might give the Isle of Wight candles a try though as they do worldwide deliveries through their Amazon store!

  4. Sounds like something I may have to purchase myself - I adore your review! I'm a huge fan of candles, but have never really bought them from anywhere besides Yankee Candles, so this may be a good change! <3 xx

  8. If there was a check list for how to be a beauty blogger, loving candles would be at the top! Although this is one candle brand I've not actually tried. Would make a nice change from the typical Yankee Candles.

  10. This candle sounds lovely & I like the fact that it's not too expensive! I'm like you - I really can't justify spending a lot of money on a single candle. I end up getting a lot of scented candles from Tesco for around £2 - £3 & they smell amazing! xo

  11. I love a good candle, especially this time of year. I must admit though I am guilty of buying the odd yankee candle, but a while ago I bought some cheaper ones from ikea and they're actually quite good! x

  12. Love the picture. Yeah I do agree candles that are high end priced are a luxury and I think if you don't burn them everyday they last a while. I normally throw on my expensive candles if I need a come down and a nice aroma and then I light my tealights and blow the other out and just bask in the aroma with the tealights. Cinnamon I'm quite the same it's a scent I can't be overwhelmed with and it's funny when people around me revel in the scent come this time of year.Going to have to check this company out, candles you can't have too many xo

  14. I thought that too to be honest. Jo Malone candles really do sound incredible but like yourself I cannot justify it either. If you do try these you must let me know what you think, I'd be really interested to hear as I found this one be really good x

  15. Thank you Vanessa. I like Yankee but having now tried this I have had a much better experience compared to any Yankee candle. This one was bigger in all fairness so I do need to try the bigger Yankee Candles in order to have a fair comparison, the smaller ones though have felt like a waste of my money sadly x

  21. I will look those up next time I pop in, thank you! I fancy trying the Muji ones as well, they are quite affordable and have a good reputation if I remember correctly x

  22. I've purchased three Yankee candles now I think, perhaps four and whilst they are nice if you are sitting close to them I do fail to smell them at a distance. What I mean is the room never really smells of the candle although I have only tried the small jars so far x

  23. Thank you. I think you've hit the nail on the head there, if you buy an expensive one you really can't afford to sit burning it all night, well maybe some can but I know I couldn't haha! That's a really good idea actually, burn it just to release the nice scent then light unscented ones maybe. Let me know if you pick one of these up :) x

  24. Orange nutmeg and clove sounds looooovely! You're right in that it's interesting to compare our thoughts and reviews on products (that's why I love blogging, we can all chat about the same things. My friends would never listen to me if I started talking about which candles I love the most). In re: yankee, I have found the large Yankee Candles are a lot strong than their small ones, but I've also noticed that the longer I burn the large candles, the more it hurts my throat... which is a bit concerning! Must be because of the paraffin wax, so I don't burn the Yankee ones very often though, only when I have guests over. I have so many candles though, I could open a candle shop! xxxx

  25. It really is a lovely scent Sarah, I was so impressed! Haha I know exactly what you mean there, I love hearing what other people like and dislike, it's nice to chat about those things :)
I need to try the large Yankee Candles so I can see what they are like in comparison to the smaller ones. It's a shame they make your throat hurt though, that's not good! I have a little collection at the moment, although I'm getting through them quite quickly now xx
