Ciate Nail Polishes

Ciate Nail Polishes Ciate Nail Polishes

It has been a while since I featured nail polish over here on A Little Boat Sailing therefore I thought I'd start off the new year looking at a brand that I have liked the look of for a while. Ciate London with their unique packaging is one of the few nail polish brands that immediately grabs my attention; who can resist that little black bow?

Ciate has quite a variety of different nail polishes within their ever growing collection, ranging from the straight forward nail polish to chrome, caviar, glitter, mosaic and many many more. Personally I was never a fan of the caviar nail manicure however I really like experimenting with different effects so it's nice to see that they have such a wide range for formulas and finishes available. Just before Christmas I was kindly sent three to try out for myself so today I thought I'd share with you my thoughts on them.

From the Dragonfly collection there is Empress* which is described as straight forward pink nude. Whilst I agree that it is indeed a pink nude I also think that there is somewhat of an iridescent finish there which makes it stand out a little bit more. It's a beautiful shade to wear on the nails and looks incredibly pretty, it's a fuss free nail polish that has impressed me considering this was the first Ciate nail polish I have ever tried.

The Mosaic Collection boasts five nail polishes which instantly reminded me of a history trip whilst at school (a long time ago) whereby the flooring of the Roman buildings we went to see was covered in remnants of mosaic tiles, they looked amazing! Mural Moment* boats two tones of blue along with a soft baby pink whereby you can see that it gives quite a nice effect to the nail. You can use this on its own although I would advise a few coats in order to achieve a balanced spread of the little mosaic pieces. The above image is three applications however you could also use it on top of another colour. I think it would look great on both blue and white nail polishes whereby I think the combination would make a lovely spring nail polish look.

Meet Me in Mayfair* from the Tweed Collection is the polish that I was most hesitant about out of the three as I'm not a fan of nail polishes that feel rough to the touch. For some reason I had it my head that this would be however after trying it for myself I was pleasantly surprised and happy to be proven wrong. There is of course texture to this because there are thin strips of glitter on the nail however it's nothing that a clear top coat will not rectify. I placed three coats of this nail polish to create the effect above so again like Mural Moment it's something that needs to be built up. Once again applying this on top of another polish would really change the look of this.

Ciate has really impressed me to be honest as I found that from all of these polishes longevity was very good. better than I had imagined. I experienced no chipping what so ever for a good four days with Empress, whilst the other two lasted completely until I removed them a week later. Both the tweed and mosaic nail polishes are the type of nail polish I would use for the purpose of an accent nail as I'd find the finish a little too much over all ten nails. Overall I've had a really positive experience with Ciate and find myself considering trying out a few more from the range; I already have my eye on the Suncatcher Collection for summer.

You can find Ciate nail polishes at Look Fantastic where there are a wide range of shades, textures and finishes available.

  10. I was incredibly lucky and received their Mini Mani Manor calendar for Christmas, I was so excited because I've stared in awe at their beautiful bottles and finishes for ages but never purchased them myself. I wouldn't call them my favourite nail varnishes as I find that every type needs a lot of coats, as you mentioned with these, and patience to look its best, but they do last brilliantly. I probably wouldn't pay full price though, I'll stick to picking them up in TKMaxx in future!

You've caught the shimmer on Empress SO well! :) I had a Ciate polish from Marie Claire, I really liked the brush on it as I could easily do a nail with only one stroke - it was so quick and easy compared to the usual battles I have with nail polish.
