January

January

A new month of a brand new year seems to have quite a refreshing effect on so many people. It symbolises a fresh start for so many, a chance to change, to do something different, achieve your dreams or at least start to. If so many positive things can be drawn from just one single brand new day then who am I to criticise. I read a lot of things that put a bit of a downer on those who want to start afresh in the New Year, a whole heap of criticism to the 'new year, new me' phrase and honestly, I think that is such a shame.

Of course we don't have to wait for the 1st of January to kick start a new health kick, we can do that any day, at any time of the year. Yet if people choose to wait for a specific day, a symbolic day to them then why the hell shouldn't they? I like to see encouragement and positive thinking towards people, there has been a lot of negativity in my life over the last two years and personally for me this is where it ends. The 1st of January is somewhat of a clean slate for so many people, including me. It's time to get rid of all the dust and chains that are holding us back and clogging up our dreams and ambitions, it's time to start again or simply take a new outlook on things. I've not made any specific new year's resolutions this year for what must be the first time in a very long time. I'm simply just going to try to be more positive, even on the bad days as let's face it you only get that one day, that one solitary hour once in your life so why make it miserable.

I'm personally really looking forward to 2015; I'm hoping that this year it will be a fantastic one both for me and you. I'd like to wish everyone reading this a truly Happy New Year; I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have had a well-earned rest over the holidays.

2015 Live it, Love it!

  4. Love the photograph and your gorgeous post! I've been on a new health kick too, like most people in January but I'm not sure how long it'll last! By the way, is the pink wallet with the gold diamonds a kindle holder or a diary? Also where is it from, it's so beautiful!

  5. Hey Jordan! Thank you! It's actually lilac but it has come off slightly pinker in the photograph. It's a Kikki K Planner, it's an Australian brand and they have lots of different stationary, well worth a look although be wary of custom charges! :) xx

  6. I agree with what you are saying, I personally like to set myself smaller goals throughout the year. So many people choose to give up everything at once and with January being one of the longest and hardest of months it's kind of like you are doomed to fail before you start - plus if anything it's the month where you need a little more of the thing's that make you happy. All for a fresh start but as you mention above definitely don't need a New Year, I have nothing against people that do wait for that New Year but it's just not for me :) xx

  7. Lovely post! I don't think there's anything wrong with people wanting to use the New Year for their clean slate either :) xo

  8. I feel exactly the same about all the 'new year naysayers' who put people down. If people want to make positive change that's great and I think that positive thinking often goes out the window because of the negativity people face about it!

Just discovered your blog and loving it by the way :)

  9. This is such a lovely post! I completely agree with how you feel towards those people that criticise the whole 'new year, new me' saying and belief! Happy New Year!

  13. I completely agree and I think you put it so well. The start of a new year just feels more inspiring to me than any random date and gives me the chance to start it on a good note! Hope you have a brilliant 2015 :)

  14. Great post, Amy, I agree with you! There's just something about the beginning of a new year that gets us all thinking and looking back at our past, making us realise things that we may want or need to do, and I think it's great that people use this time of year to make a fresh start. I have a few goals in mind for 2015, but my main one is also to be more positive; forget the silly little mishaps and embrace and cherish the happy moments. :) xxx

  20. This is random, but I never knew Kikki K was an Australian brand (and I live in Australia, lol). I always assumed it was some Swedish one that set up stores here :p

  21. Trying to be more positive is definitely an admirable resolution. There's nothing wrong with a bit of symbolism in terms of starting afresh as the clock ticks over to the first day of the new year. If that motivates someone to make a change for the better and to let go of anything in the past holding them back, then like you said, that can't be bad thing. I hope you have a productive, healthy and happy 2015 :)

  22. Same here! Good vibes only, no negetiveness. Also,I always over planning on each years.. So I will definitely make, probably, a lesser and small solid goals! Well, happy new year !
P.S : I have purchased my Kikki-K Personal Planner in lilac for the new beginning, too! - Still on waiting, but honestly can't wait to use it!! xxx

  23. Although I've never been big on resolutions, I agree that the new year is a really good time to make a change if you want to. People should just do as they please. If you don't want to make resolutions, then don't, but if you want to take the opportunity, then go ahead. It's as simple as that. I think your little goal is a really good one, and I hope 2015 will be a good year for you. Happy New Year! :)

  24. I think the negativity towards comes from the people who say that and depend on the new year changing things, not their own actions. Regardless, I do think it's a good thing for a lot of people to start new goals with the new year. x

  25. Happy New Year Amy, I hope 2015 is a wonderful year for you!
I agree with you that anything that motivates people to bring about positive change in their life is a good thing although I don't think people should feel like they have to wait for the new year.. I find it a useful way of setting goals though, and breaking them down into monthly aims :)

  34. Staying positive admist times of difficulty is so hard, but that is definitely my goal this year as well. Every time something negative happens to me, I try to think of what has gone right and how that one negative event won't change my entire life. It helps me to put things into perspective :) On a side note, that watch is just too cute!

  35. No you're right when I first stumbled upon it I was quite shocked as I immediately thought they were based in Sweden. The founder is Swedish I think but lives in Australia. I'm quite envious that you can go to a store and see all their lovely things for yourself haha. Happy New Year :)

  37. I totally agree because some of us just need a kick up the
backside, a reminder and an excuse to simply do that one thing we’ve always
wanted to. Although the phrase may seem a bit clichéd it has a snappy meaning
to it which catches on and which I believe it quiet meaningful :)

  41. Smaller goals seem so much more obtainable don't they, I think they are much easier to work towards. I find it hard to diet in January as there is still SO much food left over from Christmas so I just try to save things...although I have never been able to stay away from chocolate for long xx
