Recent Purchases #5

Recent Purchases

Last week I popped into Superdrug after I found out they had a 3 for 2 offers on Max Factor. It has been a while to be honest since I picked up anything from the high street in terms of make up so it felt a little exciting to be browsing the shelves once more. I had already set my mind on picking up one of the new Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes after hearing they were somewhat of a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Light Blushes. Having never tried them myself I cannot comment if they are a dupe however they do look very pretty and are much more affordable. After a bit of deliberation I finally decided upon nude mauve which is a rather nice mauve toned champagne shade in the pan however I do think it veers on a peachy finish on me, either way I think is perfect for every day. I'll be seeing how I get on with this over the next few weeks in order to form a better opinion yet so far I really like it; I can see myself popping back to have a look at the other shades that are available.

I also decided to pick up the Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eye Shadow in the shade bronze which I have over the last few weeks seen a few reviews of here and there which did sway me towards this particular product. Having tried it already I can confirm that it is extremely pigmented, this little pot will last me a very long time so upon initial impressions I can see this being really good value for money. I personally wouldn't say that it is overly shimmery however there are quite clearly little flecks of glitter which I didn't notice until I was actually wearing it as a quick swatch in store did not highlight this to me. Finally to complete the 3 for 2 deal I picked up the Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in the shade Pink Petal which I'm actually regretting. At the time I should have paid more attention to the other shades available as I think a slightly darker one would have been much better for me, this upon first instance seems really light so I'm not too sure how I will get on with it.

Finally going back into January now I was trying to hunt down the Origins Mask Marvels gift set in the Christmas sales however none of my local boots stores had them in stock. Luckily for me the lovely Hayley picked a set up for me which I was absolutely thrilled about as I had wanted to try the Clear Improvement Clay Mask for a rather long time.

Have you picked up any new beauty purchases recently?

  1. I love the Origins masks, especially the Drink Up Intensive. It really hydrates my skin and I notice a huge difference after using it. The Max Factor blush looks lovely too!

  6. The new MF blushes do look gorgeous - they've actually already made it over here, in record time really! Definitely need to pick one up, as well as one of their cream shadows. Bronze is particularly appealing to me - would love to hear what you think!

  7. I'm really tempted to pick up one or two of the Max Factor lip liners. I initially wanted Pink Petal too but last time I was in Superdrug I also thought it's too nude and spotted other darker colours that I think would suit me better. Would love to hear your thoughts on the formula, though. :) x

  9. Would love to hear more on the Creme Puff Blush when you've used it more, as I'm really interested in picking one of those up! The eye shadow looks gorgeous as well, Max Factor is definitely a brand I want to explore more as I've only really tried their mascara and a foundation.

  20. I love Origins face masks! Recently, I have been trying to use up some of my beauty products so I haven't gotten anything new. That may change soon though because I have been eying some products from La Roche-Posay. Also my birthday is later this month and I always go a little wild in the shopping department around then.

  24. They really are I agree, I was actually quite surprised at just how little you need x

  25. As of yet I haven't tried the Out of Trouble mask, although judging by my skin at the minute maybe I should whip it out x

  26. For a long time I wanted to try the masks too and avoided picking them up because they're a little pricey. I can tell you that the Drink Up Intensive mask is really lovely, it's not a miracle worker but I can tell when I have used it the next morning x

  27. Oh wow that's great, I hope you like them if you decide to pick one up Tasha. I really like the eye shadows although I can't decide how is best to apply them at the moment, with a finger or with a brush x

  28. Yeah it is really light I don't know why I picked that up. It seemed darker according to the coloured end on the liner but it's super light. I can't see how I can make it work at the moment, it's just too pale. The formula for now seems OK although I prefer the MAC ones if I'm honest, I think it's a little drying x

  29. The colour is super pretty but far too light for me sadly, the end of the liner is a bit misleading I think as it isn't that colour inside x

  30. Their mascaras in my experience are really good! I haven't tried one of their foundations in a really long time now x

  31. That's great to hear Janeese, I hope I like it as much as you do z

  32. The sale price was brilliant! I missed out on it last year so really wanted to find it this time round x

  33. They seem really nice so far Charlee :) x

  34. It seems it from the pictures online, although I'd still like to try an Hourglass one for myself some day x

  35. I'm looking forward to giving that mask a try later on today x

  36. They really are, I love their mascaras x

  37. It is so beautiful Coco and super pigmented too x

    ReplyDelete
  38. I thought it looked lovely too but the shade is not as the liner suggests, it's worth trying them if you can as I didn't and have ended up with a liner that is far too light x

  39. I'd love to see a comparison Ting! :) x

  40. It's incredibly pretty xx

  41. Guerlain produce such pretty make up don't they. I hope the blushes arrive in the US soon x

  42. La Roche-Posay is a fantastic brand, I love their Anthelios SPF. I hope you have an awesome birthday Amy! xx

  43. I've been really wanting to try out Origins face masks. Is there one in particular you'd recommend?

    ReplyDelete
  44. So far I'd definitely recommend the Drink Up Intensive Mask Georgina. It smells really nice and works really well, I wouldn't call it a miracle worker but I can definitely tell when I have used it as my skin looks much more awake and also feels much more hydrated x

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm really keen to try the Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes and Excess Shimmer Eye Shadow! They both look & sound like really great products. Looking forward to your review posts. xo

    ReplyDelete
  46. So far Megan I'd really recommend both, it's not often I really do like something from the high street these days, that's mainly because I rarely have a look but these have really impressed me. I'd like to try a few more of the blush shades now :) x
