May Beauty Favourites

May Beauty Favourites
Now if ever there has been a month that has passed in the blink of an eye then it would most certainly be this one. What with eight exams to revise for, work, my blog and a few beauty events squeezed in for good measure it is safe to say that I'm exhausted. Luckily I've not long to go now until the exams come to an end, whether I have passed is another question entirely but for now all I can say is that I cannot wait until the 15th June.

There have been quite a lot of new products to me this month when it comes to beauty; however I haven't had much chance to test out most of them due to one thing and another. Despite this though there have been a few things which have slipped into my make up and skincare routine that I have not stop using since I first got them.
May Beauty Favourites

Starting off with skincare I was recently sent out the La Roche-Posay Make Up Remover Micellar Water Gel* which may sound like an odd concept yet it is really just a twist to our favourite micellar waters. This is essentially gel based micellar water which is simply applied to a damp face in order to help remove your make up. I have found this to be really quite good for me in terms of removing my base make up and even found it to be really good for removing my eye make up too which is notorious for being that little more stubborn. I was unsure at first if I would like this around the eye area as I only ever used cotton pads and micellar water however it really did surprise me. This is something that I would be happy to use instead of micellar water because for me it felt just as comfortable to use; it did not sting at all and had the same results. I also like the fact that I don't have to use cotton pads with this which means I'm not having to bin loads of them each week; I'd love to not use them at all as I do think they create a lot of waste over time.

I've also being trying to ensure I start to use up my fragrances as I'm aware that I have had a few for a little while now. Glorious Gardenia by Gucci was a fragrance I had off my Dad a few years ago now where to this day I still adore it. Moving onto make up, this month I have continued to enjoy using the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in the shade 'Nude Mauve'. This is a product that has re-affirmed to me that the high street can produce some really incredible products. It goes without saying that this is a product that I will repurchase as soon as the need arises as it creates the most gorgeous flush to the skin; in fact I love it so much that I haven't even picked up any of my NARS blushes since I got it.

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laques have seemed to have a bit of a mixed rate of reviews as of late yet I have to say I have really liked them so far. Having said that I do only own one of the shades therefore I can only speak for 'Rose on the Rocks' which is a soft mauve toned pink in my eyes which really adds a beautiful hint of rose to the lips. Whilst they're not the most long lasting lip product I have tried they are one of the most comfortable which for me is something I'd rather have over longevity.

Finally my last favourite comes in the form of the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in the shade 'Bronze Moon'. Without a doubt this has to be one of the most, if not the most gorgeous bronze eye shadow shade I have ever used which is why I'm featuring it here today, however I do find myself slightly torn over this product in general. My reason for the slight apprehension comes down to the price because these are not budget friendly in the slightest. When I ordered this a few weeks back there happened to be a Groupon voucher for Feel Unique at the time which is why I decided to get it, otherwise I'd still be sat here wondering what they were like. Whilst I absolutely adore the texture of this as well as the colour I have sadly found myself slightly disappointed in the fact that after a few hours it does start to crease a little. Of course that factor is a more than disappointing when you consider the price of the product although I can't deny that every time I use it the shade and texture of it wins me over every single time.

I know that there was a dupe floating around of this by No7 which of course I had to try for myself. Whilst I don't think I have the exact dupe shade for Bronze Moon I do happen to have one of the others and can honestly say that the texture is not at all similar, the No7 one in my experience drags on the eye lid and has much poorer pay off in terms of pigmentation; for the record I have 'Cool Mink' which is pretty in its own right however I wouldn't be inclined to buy another.

  5. That's a shame to hear that the By Terry shadow creases on you! I've heard that they last fo-eva on other people! I have pretty oily eyelids so I don't think they'd fare that well on me either then :/ Still want to try them though! Haha :P Also want to try the Bourjois glosses. I've heard that the formula is quite unique!

  6. I love those max factor blushes. I think I own two or three eeek but I really do like to wear them. Think I might wear it today! Bourjois glosses so far I've heard a few good things about them but I've not been looking too much into reviews but it's good to have divided opinions I like that with products xo

  10. A micellar water gel… that sounds like an interesting concept. I seem to be over the whole micellar hype at the minute the majority I have tried are too harsh for my skin, and I end up using like six cotton pads to remove anything! But, a gel sounds quite appealing especially with me not been a fan of oil cleansers may be one to try :) xx

  17. I was just looking at the LaRoche Posay range wondering what I should pick (I'm not feeling the Effaclar Duo or their other much loved products) and I really like the sound of this micellar gel! I personally prefer not using a cotton pad on my eyes, so I think this would really work for me :) x

  18. I love the sound of the La Roche-Posay Micellar Gel - I hate wasting so many cotton pads with my regular micellar water so I might have to give this a try. I'm still lusting after the By Terry Ombre Blackstars. There's a couple of shades that are high up on my wishlist!

  19. I've been using the Gel as well and I'm really not sure about it, it hasn't wowed me. Love the MF blushers and the By Terry product looks gorgeous, such a shame about the price though! xx

  22. Have heard quite good things about the Max Factor Creme Puff blushes! And a gel micellar water sounds interesting, and I can see how it would work better, I'm a fan of gel-formulas myself! I've tried the LRP normal micellar water and it's not too bad. Very gentle!

  24. Yes me too Rebecca, it'll be a definite repurchase.

  25. They are so so beautiful Emily, I'm using Misty Rock at the moment and I'm just obsessed with it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I've had a little trouble with them creasing you know however I used Misty Rock the other day and it didn't crease no where near as much. I'm now beginning to wonder if I perhaps used too much of bronze moon.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thank you very much Melanie! :)

  28. I'm wondering if I used too much of Bronze Moon Tasha because I used Misty Rock the other day and I must have used less and blended it out more because it did not crease half as much. I need to try it again, I'm just glad I haven't written my full review yet. Yes the formula of the Bourjois glosses is really nice, it has an almost cooling effect on the lips too.

  29. They are both two of my favourite products at the moment Zara.

  30. I love rose on the rocks! I'd like to get one of the brighter shades for the summer I think as I have really enjoyed using this product so far.

  31. Yes I too have read mixed reviews as well. It's a shame not everyone likes it but I guess that's what happens with skincare, we all experience things differently. I personally really do like it. Yes I that Max Factor blush is absolutely beautiful, a repurchase for sure.

  32. Oh that's such a shame, did you try the Garnier one in the end? I really do like this gel, it's gentle and does a good job, it might be worth reading around though as people have seemed to be 50/50 on it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think for light make up days it is perfect! :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. It is so beautiful, I'm wearing that one a lot at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  35. They were on mine too, I only got them because of the Groupon voucher I found; they're so expensive otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  36. They are really worth checking out Divya, I really do think they're great.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It is so beautiful isn't it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. They are really great, I'm changing my mind over the longevity issue I had now, I think I applied a bit too much which led to creasing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. They do a great SPF Ornella, it's the only one I use if I'm honest with you. I also want to move away from cotton pads, I just find them super wasteful.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Me too, I'm trying to only use micellar water now on days when I have worn more heavy eye make up, otherwise I just get through them so quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh that's a shame, I have heard mixed reviews on this myself. I think for days when I don't wear lots of eye make up it works really well for me, it's done a good job of removing my mascara and eye shadow. The price of By Terry puts me off so much, I won't be buying another for a long while. I got two with the Groupon codes, they will do me for now.

  42. That's great Rachel! I sure do hope you love them as much as I do.

  43. I've had this one for a little while, my dad purchased it for my birthday a few years ago so I know I need to try and use it up now. It really is beautiful, I'll be sad when it runs out.

    ReplyDelete
  44. La Roche-Posay is generally quite gentle in my experience, I really like their SPF too Sheri.

    ReplyDelete
  45. They have quite a few within the range Laura, they're all named after different flowers which is nice.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You're very welcome and yes they do quite an extensive range I think, they're skin type suited which is good. I have never seen reusable cotton pads before, they sound odd!

    ReplyDelete
  47. ooh, i've never thought to try groupon for makeup!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. No me neither, I stumbled across it by chance. I keep checking it now every week or so, you never know! :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love the Bourjois blush it's such a beautiful shade. I'd love to try one of the By Terry Ombre Blackstar eyeshadows, I just can't justify the price at the moment! xo

    ReplyDelete
  50. They're so pricey Megan, if it wasn't for that Groupon voucher there is no way I would have one. The Max Factor Blush is stunning, beautiful wear and affordable which is great! :)
