August Beauty Favourites

August Beauty Favourites

It has been exactly one week since I last posted which is somewhat of a rarity for me. Whilst I do not post every single day I do like to have roughly three posts up a week, yet I have to say that since starting my new job I have barely had time to get dinner of an evening, let alone put together a blog post. For the time being I think my posting will be slightly sporadic, that's not something I wanted to admit yet it is the harsh reality of just physically running out of time; I sure hope you understand.

Nevertheless, whilst the posts have been somewhat absent on here that is not to say that there hasn't been a whole lot of beauty throughout August. I will admit that most of the products I have being using are old favourites which I have mentioned countless times before; therefore I thought that I would share with you some of the more recent products that I have being using of late.

It isn't very often that I reach outside my fail safes when it comes to foundation however I was recently offered the opportunity to try out the Oxygenetix Foundation* which is a product that is aimed at those who suffer with acne. Now it is worth mentioning that I myself do not suffer with acne, however like most people I do suffer with the odd break out here and there. I will admit that I was sceptical about this product as I had never heard of it before, however after reading more about it online I decided to give it a try.

I was matched to the shade Opal which is the lightest shade on offer and is in my opinion a relatively good match for my skin tone. If I was to be slightly picky it is perhaps slightly too pale, yet this is nothing that a spot of bronzer cannot solve. The formula consists of ceravitae which is a super charged oxygen complex which helps to ensure the skin can breathe. It also has salicylic acid which helps to prevent break outs by controlling spot causing bacteria. At the moment I am not ready to provide a fully detailed review on this yet so far I have to say that I have been very impressed. Skin care benefits aside this is a very nice foundation indeed, it stays put on my skin all day long yet it does not dry it out in the slightest; the only down side that I can see so far is the price as it retails at £55.

The NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette was something I hunted down at the beginning of the year after missing out on it at Christmas. I had never been a huge fan of multi-purpose palettes yet since I started using this more this month I have reached for nothing else when it comes to brightening up my complexion with a spot of blusher. As I mentioned before the Oxygentix Foundation* is a little too pale so I have being using the NARS Laguna Bronzer in order to warm my complexion up just a bit. It is safe to say that I can see why so many people rave about Laguna; it really is very pretty and can be built up naturally.

I wanted to share with you my thoughts very briefly on the new Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks. From an impressive range of fourteen shades I think there will be an option here for everyone. Naturally as I have come to expect from Revlon the formula is pretty spot on, it's creamy, not sticky and is well pigmented. I wouldn't say that they are sheer in terms of application, I know for a fact that the shade rose is not, however I haven't tried any of the others out for myself. Rose is a really pretty pink however if I am honest it is more pink than I had anticipated, this wouldn't have been so bad had I not at the time also picked up one of the matte balm stains in elusive; the colours are almost identical which was somewhat of a mistake on my part. These new lipsticks from Revlon are also quite heavily fragranced which personally does not bother me; however it is something worth noting.

Moving from beauty products for the moment I also wanted to mention this gorgeous bangle I recently received courtesy of House of Fraser. They have some amazing jewellery as one would naturally expect so whilst having a browse I stumbled across the Karen Millen Pyramid Stud Bangle* which stood out to me as being so incredibly unique and visually very interesting. I have always had a soft spot for jewellery that can look slightly more edgy and I think paired up with jeans, a t-shirt and simple black bag I think that this could really set off an outfit. Whilst unfortunately this is now out of stock on the House of Fraser website it is worth checking out their other bracelets; I'm already considering purchasing something to go alongside this one to create somewhat of a stacking feature.

What have been your beauty favourites this month?
