Beauty Favourites 2015

2015 Beauty Favourites
The last day of the year is always a highly anticipated one. There are for me fresh ideas and New Year's resolutions occurring in my mind, which I know that by March most of them will have most likely been forgotten about. Nevertheless, like every year I really do hope and pray that I will have the strength and commitment within me to at least see through some of them until this time next year; here is hoping.

Before I do start jumping into the old cliché of New Year's resolutions I wanted to of course write about some of my favourite beauty products from 2015. Whilst going through my make up products there were some immediate stand out items which I have used constantly since I first picked them up; what else can justify a beauty favourite if not that. I had not at the time even considered skincare/body based products so I will get to that today as I have plenty to share on that front too.

So, starting off with make up I firstly wanted to acknowledge eye shadows as there have been two products this year which have been nothing short of incredible. At first I was extremely sceptical about the By Terry Ombre Blackstar cream eye shadow sticks as they are pretty expensive, however the pigmentation, longevity and texture of these products have impressed me to no end. Yes the Kiko versions of these are fantastic and if you fancy trying a more budget friendly option then I would highly recommend them, if however you want something a bit more luxurious then please look no further. In terms of powder eye shadow the range from MAC will leave even the most dedicated beauty addict a little bit overwhelmed I am sure, however it is worth diving in as there are some beautiful shades to discover which are all of fantastic quality. I am still working on my palette above as you can see, although what with the helpful suggestions on my Mac Palette post I am sure I will be filling it up in no time.

Sticking with MAC for one more moment I wanted to take a moment to profess my love for the Soft and Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish as I clearly have being living under a rock for the last four years. Up until recently I had not tried this product however now I find it hard to imagine not having it within my routine. It truly is stunning and helps to add such a beautiful soft, healthy warm glow to your complexion without going over the top.

There were three base products which for me deserved a spot within this round up this year. The first is the Estee Lauder Double Wear BB Highlight* which I have used almost every single day since I received it. For me this is more than just a highlighting pen as it helps to provide a decent amount of coverage too, it is almost multi-purpose although I am not entirely sure if that was the intention. The Clarins Instant Concealer is again another product which I really do rate. If I am not using the previous product then it is this which I have being reaching for as it provides a decent amount of coverage without it being too heavy for under my eyes. Finally in terms of base products the L'Oreal Infalliable Matte Foundation blew me away in terms of quality, price and finish as it truly was for me the best high street foundation released this year. I have being wearing this a lot since I first picked this up where it is safe to say that this has been favoured over some of my higher end foundations.

It is hardly a surprise to see the Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes making an appearance in this post because I feel as though I have mentioned them at every given opportunity. The shade I have is nude mauve, which for me is the perfect shade for every day. Again like the L'Oreal foundation this has replaced my higher end blushes for the time being as I find the quality to be just as good, if not better.

In terms of lip products there have been many this year which I have liked, yet there have only been two in particular which I have worn on a very regular basis. The first of those comes from Bourjois in the form of their Rouge Edition Aqua Laque Lip Paints. I have to say that these didn't grab the attention of many however I personally really liked them as the formula is beautiful and extremely comfortable to wear too. In contrast to this I have the Dior Lip Glow which I always have in my hand bag these days. Due to the fact I wear invisalign I can't wear my normal lipsticks as they do transfer a little onto the aligners therefore sheer shades like this with just a hint of colour are ideal, plus, it helps to keep my lips hydrated.

My final choice for this year is the Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish range as the formula of these is quite simply dreamy. In terms of longevity these are by far one of the best nail polish ranges on the high street, I only wish they would increase the shade range as it is still somewhat limited in comparison to the likes of Barry M.

What have been your favourite beauty products in 2015?

Party Season Beauty

Beauty Brands at Boots
Wait just one minute; I could have sworn it was only Christmas yesterday! The time is already moving on at a rate of forty knots, where despite still being in a food coma I am already looking towards New Year's Eve. At this time of year I think you generally tend to find two types of people, those that like to go out in full party mode to celebrate the New Year or those, (like me) who keep it at a generally more low key affair and celebrate it in their own personal way.

The latter of course is somewhat more reserved as I can guarantee that I will be at home watching Netflix or putting together some blog posts in order to see me through the return to work next week. Whilst sitting in my pyjamas there will be no need for make up, however for those that are off out this year or just want to wear it anyway (why the heck not) then listen up.

Just before Christmas the lovely team at Boots sent me over a parcel which contained party season beauty products from a selection of their stocked brands. One such brand is Sleek which I first discovered when I started off this blog almost four years ago. The Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette* has four different shades with three being powder and one being of a cream formula. It is a palette which claims to suit all skin tones, adding a radiant glow to the skin. I must admit that this palette for me packs some serious punch in terms of pigmentation and glow; in fact it's pretty impressive and certainly provides you some nice options for strobing on a budget.

Liner is one of my beauty necessities, it is probably my most purchased product next to mascara therefore when the L'Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim* appeared I was thrilled as I have used this for a while now and it is always a product I go back to. My current one is on its last legs as it were so it is rather handy to have a new back up.

The Nail Apothecary by Elegant Touch is a new brand to me, however judging by the reviews online the Gel Effect Top Coat* is incredibly popular. As of yet I am to still test this one out, however I think as soon as this post is written I will be putting it straight to the test.

Beauty Brands at Boots
The Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit* was a product that I will admit to being sceptical about, that being purely because in my experience the high street can tend to flop where products like this are concerned. That being said for the price this isn't too bad at all, although if you are super fair I would probably think twice about this one. There is a highlight, bronzer and contour shade which are fairly pigmented, meaning that caution is advised, especially when using the bronzer and contour options. You will want to ensure that this is blended well to avoid any lines as I felt as though it was a bit tricky to blend overall. For me the highlight shade is a miss as I found it to be more of a setting powder if truth be told. Barry M is one of my favourite brands yet for me this was a product that I just sadly didn't get along with.

Moving onto the Collection #YourStyleYourMood Eye Shadow Palette* this offers ten eye shadows in order to create two eye looks based firstly around olives and browns and secondly plums and pinks. The shades on offer are all relatively neutral, yet with the added element of tones of olive and pink I really do think you have a budget friendly palette here which offers something really quite different to the run of the mill neutral palettes currently available. Out of all ten shades I honestly only find two of them to be slightly chalky, yet this is nothing I cannot work with, especially considering the palette as a whole only costs £5.99. Overall this is a great little bargain actually; I am super impressed with the quality considering just how affordable it is. Well done Collection.

My favourite product has to be the Eylure Party Lashes Frozen Beauty* which are truly stunning and are, as are all gorgeous things, limited edition for this year. These are most certainly a statement for the party season what with the added shimmer to the lashes. I really want to try these out in order to see how they look as I have heard so much good feedback about Eylure lashes in general.

So, what are you up to this New Year?

Time Out

Time Out
Another year has come and has almost gone and I am sat here having just written and published my Merry Christmas post. It is funny because when I very first started my blog back in 2012 I had no idea at just how much I would come to love it, yet here I am having just written my third Christmas post.

For the last six months however I have felt as though I have out grown this little space on the internet. Those that follow me on twitter may have witnessed my frustration in regards to this on occasion and for that I apologise; I am not one to publicly harp on about something. I guess for the better part it shows that I care and only want to do the best that I can, although for me that is still no excuse. I have come to realise that I have expectations of myself which are perhaps too high; I think I can do so much when in fact I have reached my limit.

At the end of July I landed myself a new job and I have to say that it has changed my life a lot. I work full time now meaning I am out the house from 7am until 7pm, it is a very long day and it can make blogging extremely difficult. I find this especially tough come the weekend when I have everything else to do such as cleaning, washing and food shopping to take care of, and that's before I have even had chance to catch up with friends. My job is leading me onto some pretty great opportunities at the moment which I am so grateful for, therefore my blog will take a bit more of a back step come next year, although I am most certainly not disappearing; I enjoy it too much to do that.

I do worry that in stepping back I will lose readers and that my blog will struggle to grow. Numbers do not drive my blog, they never have and they certainly never will, however I cannot lie that seeing my readership grow is encouraging. For me they show me that maybe I am doing something right and that people enjoy what I am harping on about and do you know what, that's blooming awesome!

Over the last two months I have seriously being thinking about a brand new blog and re-brand. That is not because I am bored, on the contrary I have never had more ideas than I have now; I just need more time to produce the content to go with them. To be honest I need a fresh start, I have loved A Little Boat Sailing and the opportunities it has provided me, however the girl that started that blog has grown up a lot since then. I have been through highs and incredible lows whereby I have to say that my outlook on life has changed considerably and do you know what, I want to talk about that. Whilst I adore beauty blogging this is not a true reflection of me, there is more to me than my favourite lipstick and in 2016 I really want to embrace that and to share it with you.

From the bottom of my heart I would like to end this post with a huge thank you to those that have being following my blog. This journey, as small as it may appear has been incredible. Who could have predicted that by opening up blogger one evening over three years ago that this would have led me to the point of sitting here on Boxing Day 2015 at 12:37am thanking people I have never even had the pleasure to meet.

Over the next few days I will be taking a little blog break as I need some time off to simply relax. In that time I will be catching up on some of my favourite blogs and I will be on the hunt for some new ones to follow too, therefore if you have any recommendations for me then please do leave them in the comments below.

I hope everybody has had a lovely Christmas and I wish you all a very happy and successful 2016.

P.S The Daniel Wellington code I have running is still going strong therefore if you have any Christmas money to spend this year and you fancy treating yourself then you can pick up 15% off your order using the code 'alittleboatsailing' over on the Daniel Wellington website.

Merry Christmas

Christmas Tree Cat at Christmas As it hits 11pm I just wanted to take some time out to wish everybody a Merry Christmas. I realise that this post is rather late in the day, but in all honestly I just was not prepared this year as Christmas has crept upon me quicker than you can say turkey!

Christmas is a magical time of year and a pretty hectic one at that. It is lovely to finally sit down come Christmas Eve knowing that everything is done and that you can relax with your family and friends. Whilst I know many of you have had a wonderful Christmas, myself included, it is important to remember that this is a time of year which can be incredibly hard and lonely for some. Take the time to be extra kind and supportive to those around you, a few kind words or gestures can truly make someone's day. I hope that as the evening is drawing to an end that where ever you are this Christmas that you have had a lovely day and have taken good care of yourselves.

Stay safe, be merry and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Winter Comforts

Fat Face Sleepwear
These long winter nights sure can make you feel rather gloomy at times, especially when you head out to work in the dark and then proceed to pull up at home in the dark; the summer can often feel like a rather distant memory. Despite this I actually do love winter, I find it rather magical and if done right it can be super cosy and dare I say romantic. Now I can assure you, the most romantic thing for me right now is snuggling up in my pyjamas and sticking on Netflix so I can watch Damon Salvatore, ahem, I mean an incredibly intellectual documentary on rainforests...

Whilst arriving home after a long day at work I have to admit I like love nothing more than jumping straight into my pyjamas after work; it is so satisfying, especially when I have being dressed smart all day long. As we headed into December one of my favourite brands Fat Face got in touch and asked if I would like to feature some of their night wear; of course naturally I said yes. The clothes from Fat Face are always of such good quality and they're some of most beautiful on the high street, their night wear in particular is nothing short of amazing and that is before you have even put it on after your shower.

Fat Face Sleepwear
The Star Jacquared Check Lounge Pants* from the Fat Face Sleepwear range have to be the most cosiest pyjama bottoms I have ever had; trust me when I tell you that these have barely left my body since they arrived. They are incredibly cosy and come up a relatively generous size too, I opted for a size 10 and I have more than enough room in them so that they are comfortable to wear in bed, nobody likes tight pyjamas now do they.

Speaking of comfort I have long been someone who refused to wear slippers, for some reason I associated them with being of an older age and my oh my how wrong was I. It is either that or I am definitely getting older; make of that what you will. Either way I am absolutely loving my Fat Face Mable Cable Knit Mules* from the slippers range, they are super cosy! They save me having to always find a matching pair of socks to shove on my feet, which in itself is a bonus as I am forever forgetting to match them up when they have being washed.

I will admit to possessing many winter comforts, which is mainly because I do not like being cold one little bit so I will find as many ways as possible to keep myself nice and cosy; call it natural instinct. Whilst skincare will not keep me warm it will make me feel that extra bit pampered therefore this year I have finally opened the Liz Earle Sweet Orange and Mint Cleanse and Polish which has been a long time overdue. It goes without saying that I adore Liz Earle therefore it is nice to add a somewhat festive touch to my skincare routine.

Winter Comforts

My most recent addition would have to be the I Love Peachy Passionfruit Shower and Bath Cream which was a spontaneous purchase whilst in Superdrug over the weekend. This stuff smells so delicious, although I will admit that it is a rather odd scent to have picked up for this time of year; nevertheless I really like it and find myself wanting to check out more from this extremely affordable range.

For that extra special treat I picked up an obligatory new mug from John Lewis a couple of weeks back. This white polar bear mug is absolutely perfect, especially when I make a nice cup of Flaked Hot Chocolate from Whittard, which, I might add is one of the nicest hot chocolate drinks you can buy to make yourself at home. If you are a fan of hot chocolate then you will love this, if you are not a fan of hot chocolate then I would still highly recommend checking this out.

What are your winter comforts?

Battling Blemishes

Battling Blemishes
Now I don't know about you but as soon as we hit December any attempt at healthy eating almost certainly goes straight out of the window. I know all too well that too much sugar is bad for you, it affects not just your weight but also crucially your skin. It is one of the first places to visibly show that your body is suffering, that applies not just to your diet but also helps to alert you to lack of sleep or even stress. Our bodies give us signs and more often than not we do ignore them; that is something I would like to return to in my New Year's post.

For now however, I have decided to pick out a few of my go to products for when my skin is having one of its moments. These tend to work for me most of the time, although it has to be said I would not use all of these at any one time as it would be quite stripping and dehydrating on my skin if I was to do so. Generally speaking I would use specific products depending on how bad my skin was, what the weather was like and of course how much time I had.

The Quick Fix

During the warm weather and in times of haste I like to opt for a product such as the La Roche-Posay Serozinc* as this is incredibly easy to use what with it being a simple face mist. This is incredibly light on the skin and almost seems to soothe the skin instantly; it's even nicer when it is kept in the fridge for fifteen minutes. Whilst this is no miracle worker I do find that it helps to keep my skin clearer, helping to prevent bacteria from spreading, it also mattifies my skin making it a really nice product for those with oily skin in the summer. I would also be tempted to squeeze in here the Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Facial Pads which I have being using pretty frequently since I picked them a couple of months back. This is not the type of product I would use daily, that being because I do often do forget to use SPF which is bad enough in itself, let alone when using a product containing glycolic acid. Again this product will not wave a magic wand over your blemishes, however in my experience they have helped to clear up hormonal break outs along my jaw line. At the moment I am not too sure if I would pick these up again as I do prefer the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator as it is more hydrating on my skin.

The Overnight Trooper

For me it is at night time when I like to incorporate my blemish busting heroes as I can apply any oils or serums without having to worry about applying my make up. The Sk:n Anti Blemish Control Serum* is a relatively recent addition to my skincare routine and again is one that I would not use all of the time, only because my skin type does not warrant a constant product like this within my daily routine. I do like this product on a whole because it makes me feel as though my skin is sanitised, it is also light weight and thin in consistency so it doesn't make my skin feel weighed down. Having said that I do note that alcohol is pretty high up in the ingredient list which does make me wary as alcohol is notorious for drying out your skin, therefore when I do use this I do ensure that I use an hydrating facial oil at the same time.

Marvellous Masks

Last but least I cannot fail to mention quite possibly my favourite type of skincare product, that being the simple face mask. There are of course many varieties of face masks out there, you can get hydrating ones, brightening ones, clarifying ones and even exfoliating ones. Naturally masks that detox your skin of the impurtities are my most favourite, especially when I have to travel into the city and catch four trains each day. Two products that I would highly recommend would come in the form of the Aesop Parsley Seed Mask and the Lush Mask of Magnaminty as both of these products work so well at detoxing my skin, all whilst not stripping it of any moisture.

What are your blemish busting heroes?

An Introduction to BRYT Skincare

When it comes to skincare and make up I used to find it quite easy to say which one I enjoyed the most, it was for me always make up. Having said that as the years are going by I am finding myself much more in love with skincare and trying out new brands as opposed to make up, although make no mistake, I still get just as excited about a new Dior launch as much as anyone.

Recently I have being trying out the new skincare brand BRYT which has an array of beautifully packaged products to suit most skin types. BRYT skincare is a combination of nature and science working together to create cruelty free products which are ethically sourced through Fairtrade providers. Over the last couple of months I have being using three of the above products regularly, therefore I feel as though I can share my thoughts with you on these after gaining an insight as to how the products have worked for me.

BRYT Daily Moisturiser*
This replaced a moisturiser which I had being using solely for the last three months, therefore it really did have something to live up to. What with the weather now being colder I was looking for something which would be hydrating throughout the day, yet not so much that it would lead to my make up sliding off my face. I am happy to report back that so far this product is working very well for my combination to oily skin type as it moisturisers my skin but does not make it feel greasy. The scent is somewhat fruity, although I would not say that it is particularly over powering. Due to the fact that this contains SPF 15 this for me makes the product ideal as I will be honest in that I can often forget to use an SPF regularly, it is nice to know that I have being using one each day without having to purposely implement one into my routine.

BRYT Night Cream*
Again this is a product which replaced a much beloved night cream, in fact I was much more dubious with this one as I really had enjoyed the previous one I had being using. Much like the day cream I find this to be hydrating (obviously more so than the day time option) and soothing on my skin, especially once I have cleansed and used my serum. When I wake up in the morning my skin looks fresh and calm; it really is quite a lovely product and I am delighted to continue using it throughout the rest of the winter. I would say that this takes a bit more work in terms of rubbing the product into my skin as it tends to spread across my skin instead of sinking in at first, however due to it being a night time product this isn't something that bothers me too much.

BRYT Boost Serum*
The final product which I have tried is the Boost Serum which is targeted towards tired and dehydrated skin; aka my skin in four words before I started using this. This is an oil based product, however it is extremely light on the skin and isn't thick like you would expect from an oil based liquid. In all honesty it does take a little while for it to sink into my skin, therefore I do try and apply this about ten minutes before I put on my night cream as I do find that it sits on my skin a bit longer than I would ideally like at first. Out of all of the products I would say that it is this one which has probably benefited my skin the most as I have noticed that the dehydration issues I always suffer from at this time of year have been pretty rare, in fact they have been hardly noticeable since I incorporated this into my routine.

The BRYT Calm Serum*
This a product which I have not yet tried out due to my reasoning of only trying out one type of product at a time. Next year I plan to revisit the calm serum as I am really looking forward to trying that one out too having had such a lovely experience with the products above.

Have you heard of BRYT Skincare before?

HQhair Secret Santa

HQhair Beauty Products

Those elves over at HQhair have been at it again! They have been being busy organising secret Santa and have being sending out surprise parcels to unsuspecting bloggers. A couple of weeks ago I arrived home to something I was not expecting, much to my delight I had been sent some beauty products to try which can all be found on HQhair. As of yet I haven't had time to try them out barring the Redken Metal Fix*, what can I say, I am a big kid when it comes to glitter.

HQhair Beauty Products

Grow Gorgeous is a brand I have spotted in a few high street stores lately and it has immediately grabbed my attention. I can't wait to try this out on my hair next weekend to kick start off one of my New Year's resolutions, aka to look after my hair better. Pur Minerals is a completely new brand to me on the other hand, so I am rather looking forward to trying out those beautiful looking eye shadows to see how they compare with some of my favourites.

HQhair Beauty Products

Whilst I have heard of HD Brows before, I will admit that I was a little naive to think that they only created brow products. The HD Brows Eye shadow palette in Bombshell* certainly looks gorgeous! This consists of two matte shades and three satin ones which verge on the grey/purple spectrum; I think this will be an awesome palette for rocking a smoky eye.

If you want the HQhair elves to send you your very own surprise parcel then head over here to their KISSMASS page and twitter @HQhair where you can find out how to go about winning one of your own.

STAR by KG Kurt Geiger

Kurt Geiger Ankle Boots Kurt Geiger Ankle Boots Kurt Geiger Ankle Boots
Being rather short in stature has its pros and cons; I should know seeing as I have been the same height since high school. Whilst I generally do quite like being a shorty there's nothing quite like sticking on a pair of heels and adding a few extra centimetres to my height, it's amazing how much more you can see and for some reason it helps to add a little bit of confidence too. Now you all know I am not very good when it comes to heels, however when they are in boot form I do tend to fair a bit better as the heel is more chunky making me feel somewhat more stable under foot.

The STAR Kurt Geiger Ankle Boots* are perfect for this as they add extra height without making me feel like I am walking on stilts. They also are visually gorgeous as they are of such a classic design and are of fantastic quality too; I just know that they will last me a really long time. I paired these up with a black skirt and striped white blouse, however now that the cold weather is well and truly here I will be sporting them with my skinny jeans instead. Kurt Geiger happen to have a great sale on at the moment, so it is well worth checking out if you are in the market for some last minute Christmas gifts or if you are up for treating yourself during the festive period. Speaking of which, I have noticed that this exact pair have also dropped into the sale, therefore you will need to get your speedy boots on if you do not want to miss them.

Harry Potter Christmas Gift Guide

Harry Potter Christmas Gift Guide
It is no secret that I am quite the fan of Harry Potter, therefore what with my bloglovin feed being filled with gift guides galore I thought I would put my own together, only with a bit more of a twist. Harry Potter is full of magic therefore what more appropriate gift guide to write at this time of year. Most of these are book related I will admit, but of course, isn't that where it all started?

1. Harry Potter The Complete Box Set

The first item is actually on my own personal Christmas list this year. Back when I used to work for WHSmith I found myself being so excited when I first saw this particular set of the Harry Potter books come into store. The covers are stunning and they make a nice change to the adult editions that I do own. Next year I want to settle down and read the whole series again from start to finish so I am hoping that these are under my Christmas tree this year; plus they're an absolute bargain too!

Some of you may remember Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Illustrated Edition being featured on here a couple of weeks ago. Illustrations are something I absolutely adore; therefore when I found out that the first book in the Harry Potter series was going to be illustrated I just knew that I would pick this up eventually. It is a gorgeous book and would make a perfect gift this Christmas for any Harry Potter fan.

3. Harry Potter Colouring Book

Colouring books are somewhat all the rage at the moment, they're everywhere I go. Personally I do prefer the more intricate options that are out there, however this is in itself a nice little bit of fun. It isn't something I would choose for myself however I think for a younger Harry Potter fan this would be ideal.

4. Harry Potter Complete Film Collection

We all know that more often than not the film adaptations of our much loved tales are never quite as good. I will be the first to admit that I could not stand the first three Harry Potter films, however when I spot them on TV of a weekend I am the first to sit down and watch them; make of that what you will. The last films in the series were really great; I thought on a whole they did J K Rowling and her millions of fans proud.

5. Chocolate Frog

Ever since I first read about Honeydukes I have dreamt of discovering a sweet shop just like it. Ok, maybe I am exaggerating a little bit here but my oh my did the sweets sound amazing in the books. Despite not being to Harry Potter Studios myself I was pleasantly surprised to see that they sold their merchandise online. Whilst I will put it out there and say that £8.95 is more than a bit expensive for essentially a piece of chocolate, it is a bit of fun and it would make a funky little stocking filler.

6. Griffindor Scarf

It goes without saying that if the sorting hat was plonked on my head that I would be immediately sorted into Griffindor....here's hoping anyway. These scarves come in all the colours of the four houses so you can pick one to represent your favourite, go go Griffindor!

7. Wizard Chess

It has been a while since I played a game of chess, in fact I cannot remember the last time I did, nevertheless I can play, albeit it being badly. This to me looks really nice and of good quality too, I have always enjoyed a twist on something that is quite traditional. It is nice to see a nod towards Ron's moment in the limelight during the first book where he helps to navigate himself, Harry and Hermoine across the chess board.

8. The Hogwarts Library

When Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them first launched I was all over it like a rash. The funny annotations across several of the pages kept me amused for quite a while as they somehow managed to bring the characters of Hogwarts and indeed the wizarding world to life that little bit more. This set includes Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them alongside Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of the Beedle Bard. It's a great little addition to the story of Harry Potter as they help to provide more of an insight into the magical world.

9. Harry Potter: Page to Screen

This is a huge book let me tell you and it is quite heavy too, therefore if I were you I would order this one online. If you are interested in the process of how books become films and of course you are a Harry Potter fan (or why else would you be reading this) then this is definitely something worth checking out. Everything from illustrations of the characters to the building of the set and darning of the costumes is contained within; I highly recommend this one.

Have you spotted anything that would you would like this year? I am still hoping for that Hogwarts letter, although an invisibility cloak wouldn't go amiss.

Dear Daniel | Daniel Wellington Sheffield Watch

Daniel Wellington
Daniel Wellington is a brand that simply epitomizes class, sophistication and elegance, all wrapped up into one pretty darn beautiful time piece. It has been a brand that has received its fair share of the limelight on social media and blogs alike, yet I can clearly see why. Everything about the design and quality of these watches gives reason to be applauded. The simple design of the Daniel Wellington Classic Sheffield Watch* allows it to be paired alongside any outfit or occasion, meaning that I can wear it to work in the office and also out to dinner with friends.

Whilst it can be worn with any outfit I think that the watch itself is quite the statement piece on its own. As I get older I find that my style is changing rapidly, I think more about what I wear and equally what I like to wear alongside my outfits. It goes without saying that this beautiful black and white watch with rose gold detail will forever be a watch that I can rely on to finish an outfit off nicely; it truly is stunning. I highly recommend checking the brand out if you are looking to add something more refined to your personal style when it comes to accessories.

Daniel Wellington

Daniel Wellington watches are interchangeable which I think is fantastic as it will allow you to take advantage of the different straps and styles that they have on offer. I am currently already thinking about purchasing the Classic Bristol Wristband in the New Year in order to be able to switch up my watch when I am feeling so inclined.

If you are feeling like treating yourself or a loved one this Christmas to a classic time piece from Daniel Wellington then be sure to save yourself some pennies by using the code 'alittleboatsailing' in order to get 15% off your order.

The Classic Ray Ban Wayfarer

Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses

The Ray Ban Wayfarerfor me has to be one of the most recognised frames in fashion. Sported by the likes of Robert Pattinson, Emma Watson, Taylor Swift and the mighty fine David Beckham it is a frame that is highly recognisable. It is a classic design which will never go off the radar, where over the last ten years it has seen quite the resurgence in popularity.

Statement accessories such as these are timeless and really add an extra special element to your wardrobe. For me personally I am no longer a huge wearer of accessories, however I do like to wear nice one off pieces here and there to fit my rather minimalistic style. Furthermore, let's face it, a dark pair of sunglasses can hide a whole world of sins when it is an early morning.

Whilst we are heading rather rapidly into the depths of winter I still thoroughly believe that there is a place for sunglasses at this time of year; hear me out on this one. Early morning driving on a sunny winter morning can be glorious, however the sun is very low in the sky at this time of year and can be extremely bright, especially if it reflects off the snow (not that we see much of that here in the UK anymore). When I knew that I would be offering the chance to give a pair of Ray Bans away I did wonder if it was really the right time of year, however a flashback of learning to drive last winter and being blinded by the sun really did remind me that planning for all eventualities, namely sunshine in winter is perhaps not a bad thing.

Therefore I am thrilled to be able to offer you the opportunity to win a pair of your very own Ray-Ban Sunglasses courtesy of The Sunglasses Shop. All you have to do is fill in the Rafflecopter widget below and  of course remind Santa just how good you have been this year; a bit of mulled wine will surely do the trick. The giveaway is open internationally and will run for two weeks ending on the 15th December; good luck to everyone that enters.
